What is Orientation?
Orientation:
In general terms, Orientation refers to a guided approach to employees to the organization and its work environment.
In a specific term, Orientation is a process by which new employees are provided with information about the organization, the organization’s owner, and the job performance so that the employees can perform the organization’s work satisfactorily. Different psychologists have defined familiarization in different ways. But the gist of their definitions is often the same.
Benefits and Analysis of Orientation:
From the above definitions some features of Orientation are observed. For example-
(a) Through which the newly selected employees are introduced to the activities of the organization and the old employees.
(b) New employees can perform the work successfully and comfortably.
(c) Reduces the anxiety of new employees at work.
(d) New employees can learn about the nature of the organization and work rules etc.
(e) The program may begin informally and progress to a formal level.
Finally, new employees can take the organization own and perform tasks smoothly through Orientation. Therefore, the main aim of Orientation is to exchange knowledge and feelings between the new employees and the organization, so that the employees do not feel uncertainty and lack of security.
