It is known from a local legend that in the early 19th century AD, a zamindar (landlord) named Kale Khaon and his wife Zulekha were buried in this mausoleum. This mausoleum is built as same as the Jorbangla house including the couple-roof of Bengali tradition. The mausoleum with the north-south long has two adjoining tombs. This mausoleum is built with thin bricks and lime-concrete mortar.
It is a pair of cottages built on a rectangular podium. The wall of the podium has arcade decorations. This mausoleum may be called a unique memorial of ancient architecture in southern Bangladesh. This architectural feature is listed and supervised by the Department of Archaeology as a protected antiquity of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. [Md. Shahin Alam]
