Uma–Maheshvara is a divine couple in Hindu iconography. Here, Uma is Goddess Parvati and Maheshvar is Lord Shiva. This icon has the twin forms of Shiva and Parvati. Shiva and Parvati are seated facing each other (in front Mudra). They are seen in various poses, which denote love and desire; such as: Embracing each other in a hug. Uma-Maheshvara is also called Hara-Gauri. Uma is also known as Gauri, Durga, Katyayani, Bhadrakali, Dashabhuja, etc. in Hindu religious culture. Maheshwar (Shiva) is also known as Mahadeva, Bholanatha, Shankara, Mahesha, Nilakantha, Rudra, Gangadhara, Hara, etc. in Hindu religious culture. [Md. Shahin Alam]
